Portable Gas Chromatograph

Portable Gas Chromatographs allow the user to make accurate field measurements of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) for identification (also known as speciation) and quantification. Photovac provides a Portable Gas Chromatograph instruments for various types of VOC monitoring, using either a photoionization detector (PID) or Electron Capture Detector (ECD). Typical applications include BTEX analysis, Benzene detection and soil gas analysis.

What are the benefits of using a Portable Gas Chromatograph?
Using a portable gas chromatograph eliminates the need for costly and time consuming laboratory measurements. Often, laboratory samples suffer from sample degradation during transport and a portable gas chromatograph can obtain fast, accurate, reliable results.

What detectors do Photovac Portable Gas Chromatographs utilize?
Photovac portable gas chromatographs feature photoionization detectors, with an optional Electron Capture device for detection of chlorinated compounds.

What types of gas chromatographs does Photovac offer?
Photovac offers two portable gas chromatographs to meet various application requirements; the PetroPRO and the Explorer.

Why would I buy a PetroPRO?
The PetroPRO is designed for BTEX analysis applications, especially in the petroleum and petrochemical industries, where Benzene detection is important. The user interface is designed to provide exceptional ease of use for specialized applications. It is an Intrinsically safe unit.

Who would prefer a Explorer?
The Explorer is a very versatile unit and is the most technologically advanced portable gas chromatograph on the market.  With a three column configuration and an isothermal oven the instrument can perform fast GC analysis for up to 40 factory programmed EPA listed VOCs. It is not certified for intrinsic safety.

Is the Voyager still available?
The Intrinsic safety rating on the Voyager expired on January 1, 2011. However, Photovac has available pre-owned, factory certified Voyagers that were manufactured and sold before January 1, 2011 and are certified for use in intrinsically safe environments.  For non-intrinsically safe applications, the Explorer has the same specifications as the Voyager, but is not rated for use in potentially explosive environments.

How long will the unit work on a full battery charge as a portable unit?
All fully charged Photovac portable gas chromatographs will operate for approximately eight hours.

How reliable are the instruments?
If they are properly maintained, portable gas chromatographs are accurate and reliable in a variety of environmental conditions including high humidity.

Does Photovac provide a warranty on the units?
Photovac provides a one year warranty on all of its products for defects in material or workmanship.
